Annual Arts Festival
Every year we hold our Pender's Grove Arts Festival. The festival is a week long celebration of the Arts at Pender's Grove Primary and involves presentation of both visual arts works, musical performances and dance.
This year our Art Festival will be held early Term 4. There will be a gallery of student art works in the library for viewing across the week as well as special music and dance performances at the Art Show opening.
Check back for updated information and a confirmed date(s).
See below for a report on a recent festival:
On Monday 27th our opening night began in the school hall at 17.00 and concluded at 18:30. There was an official welcome and opening of the Wonderland exhibition, some dance and music before everyone moved outside for refreshments followed by access to the student art gallery. Children were invited to dress up as a character from either Alice and Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass Books.
On Tuesday during the school day classes visited the gallery and were encouraged to reflect upon the connections between the creative arts, life and learning.
Thursday lunchtime saw a vigorous debate based on an Alice in Wonderland quote. Year 5/6 students contested the question - What is the point of books without pictures?
On Thursday evening at 6pm we held our annual Music Soiree in the school hall. This event showcased performances from students that learnt a musical instrument with our three instrumental teachers.
Our week ended with students having A Mad Hatter’s lunch together on Friday from 12.30-1.15pm. There were stalls selling small treats and many families attend this event and shared lunch with their children.
Parents and children were also able to visit the exhibition after school during the week.
