Literacy Support and Tutor Program
Literacy Support at Pender's Grove is a program that aims to prevent literacy difficulties in the early years of school.
A teacher aide runs this program from our Learning Neighbourhood building working with small groups of students to build their literacy skills. The goal of the program is to bring the students to year-level achievement. Parent and carer support for the program at home is highly valued and a core part of the program.
Tutor Learning Initiative 2023-24: Pender’s Grove receives funding to engage a tutors to support the students that need it most. Our school has put the initiative in place based on the needs of their students and the school and a tutor provides extra support to students in the program. The targeted teaching the tutor provides to their students involves students taking part in small group learning in a regular classroom setting or outside of regular class dependant on the needs of the student. In 2024 our tutor is Lauren Turner.
