Peer Programs at Pender’s Grove Primary School

Buddies Program at Pender’s Grove Primary School

At Pender’s Grove Primary School, our Buddies Program fosters meaningful relationships between older and younger students through regular collaborative activities. The program supports student wellbeing, builds confidence, and strengthens our inclusive school culture.

Building Connections Across Year Levels

Students are paired across year levels to promote a sense of responsibility, leadership and belonging. Buddy groups include:

  • Foundation and Year 6
  • Year 1/2 and Year 4
  • Year 3 and Year 5

Each pair participates in fortnightly sessions, working together on a mix of curriculum-based tasks and team-building activities. These sessions are designed to encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, and peer support.

Supporting School Transitions

To ensure a smooth start to school life, Year 6 buddies meet their Foundation partners during the previous year, while still in Year 5. This early introduction takes place during our Foundation transition program, helping to establish a familiar and supportive relationship before the new school year begins.

House Team Program at Pender’s Grove Primary School

At Pender’s Grove Primary School, our House Team Program promotes a strong sense of community, cooperation and school spirit. Every student and staff member belongs to one of our six house teams:

  • Red
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Purple
  • Orange

The House system encourages teamwork across year levels and supports positive relationships throughout the school. House teams are used for cross-age activities, family-friendly events and recognition awards, helping students develop leadership, collaboration and school pride in a supportive and inclusive environment.
