Pender’s Grove Primary School proudly participates in the Victorian Government’s School Breakfast Clubs program, providing free, healthy breakfasts to support the wellbeing and learning of our students.
Helping Students Start the Day Ready to Learn
Research shows that a child’s ability to concentrate in class, self-regulate, and learn is negatively impacted when they are hungry. With the rising cost of living, it has become increasingly difficult—particularly for low-income families and families experiencing disadvantage—to provide enough healthy food each week. This program ensures every student can start the day with the nutrition they need to thrive at school.
About the School Breakfast Clubs Program
The Victorian Government has committed an additional $21.1 million in the 2024/25 Budget to expand the School Breakfast Clubs program, allowing all government schools across Victoria to opt in. This builds on the $141.2 million invested since 2016, including $69.5 million in the 2023/24 Budget to continue and grow the program.
Since its launch in 2016, the program has delivered more than 40 million healthy and nutritious meals to students across the state. The Victorian Government’s delivery partner remains Foodbank Victoria, the state branch of Australia’s largest food welfare agency.
