If you haven't booked a space for the Election Day Car Boot Sale then please give the school a call. Already there is great deal of excitement over the bargains that will be available. Come along to sell or buy. It will be a great day indeed!
As part of 3/4 integrated studies and recent experiences on camp students
have been learning about the gold rush in Victoria. In music, students took on
the role of miner and through this interactive game had to try to find gold. The
experience then helped the grade to plan a performance with props, story lines
5/6 having been looking at the art of DJ's. This week they had the chance to
manipulate songs with all sorts of effects, using some great programs. We also
learnt just how import hearing the beat in a song is.
More than 115,000 students joined Enviroweek in 2012 saving 18,331.20 CO2-E. We are joining 150,000 students this year in a week of action creating good habits for a lifetime.
By taking up an Enviroweek challenge, students see the difference they make, that our school makes and how this multiplies - through other young people taking action around Australia and when small positive actions are made every day.
We have decided to celebrate looking after our environment by doing a different activity every day.
Monday will see all classes doing some gardening in the veggie patch. There is a timetable up at the office and around the school. Parents and carers are encouraged to come along!
Tuesday is ‘dress in green’ day. Please bring a gold coin donation.
Wednesday we are challenging everyone in the school to travel actively. This means by bike, scooter or similar, or use your feet! Why not meet up with friends along the way and come together! If you must drive, please park a few blocks from the school and walk the rest of the way.
Thursday we challenge everyone to bring a rubbish-free lunch. This will limit the amount of waste we send to landfill, as well as keeping our playground litter-free!
On Friday the week will end on a delicious note with a bake stall organised by the fabulous girls who raised money with a stall for the Royal Children’s Hospital earlier this year. Don’t forget your money!
Remember, all of this not only helps make our planet a better place to live, but also means we are in a competition to win solar panels worth $18,180 for our school!
So please support PGPS in our sustainable endeavours next week and in the future. For more information visit the Enviroweek Website.
Students enjoyed a range of activities this morning from creating bush beasts to encouraging each other on the ropes course. It has been a fun 24 hrs with not only a visit to Sovereign Hill to but an adventurous night walk last night. The X-Factor evening proved a wonderful chance to witness the talent of our campers.
We look forward to telling mums and dads our great stories on our return to Pender's Grove at 3:00pm.
Our students on DOXA Camp are visiting Sovereign Hill today. After a brain bending evening of trivia and crazy challenges they awoke this morning and travelled to Ballarat. During their lesson that began their visit they played old fashioned games, used ink to write names and explored the characters of the day by dressing up.
Stay tuned for the next update.
There were gasps galore as gold was poured in front of our DOXA Campers. Mohammad and Maya had the widest grin as they held the freshly poured $150 000 ingot. Alas there was nowhere to run so they had to give it back. We learned that there are tonnes of gold under our feet so our eyes will be scouring the ground for the rest if the day.
Students gathered early and queued outside the library when the Annual Book Fair opened this morning. Students visited in class groups and throughout recess and lunch times. Don't miss this great opportunity to snatch up a bargain or simply to browse some great bo
