We are looking forward to seeing our school book that will be based on some of this writing produced over the next few weeks. Thanks to all of the parents, carers, family members and friends that were able to come to our reading afternoon on Wednesday. It was great to see so many people coming along to the school to share their favourite books and love of literature.
In addition thanks to all of the students that were able to dress up for our Literary Dress Up Parade (and thanks also to everyone who helped at home!). It was evident that a huge amount of work had gone into those costumes and is was a great way to finish our Writer’s Festival and celebrate our favourite stories.
Our JSC reflected on Writer's Festival and here are their thoughts:
- Billy: The comic writer, Bernard, was really funny and he was inspiring as well on writing comics. The author visits were good because they can give you ideas for your own writing and explore different types of stories.
- Adam: I’ve been really looking forward to the Writer’s Festival because it only happens every two years. Nicki Greenberg was very fascinating about her using ink in her book Hamlet. Bernard was very entertaining and it was funny when we made the comics with him.
- Tess: Bernard was very supportive of students who weren’t confident with their drawing but he helped people draw characters and he was confident about what he talked about. He was very interested in what we drew, like the pets and characters, even if they were silly.
- Amelia & La’Kira: All the F/1/2s have been enjoying the author visits because we get to learn about different authors and the books they have written, we get to explore and create new and different types of books.
Check back soon on our Writers' Festival page for more stories and images from the festival. Our Writers' Festival will be back again in 2017!
