What a great sound Pender's Grove makes when they all sing together! We nearly brought the roof down singing "The Music is Everything" at 11.30 on Thursday. It was so great we sang it twice. Thank you to all those students from Prep to Year 6 who put in the time and effort learning the words, melody and actions and then sang with all their heart. Music is a great gift of our humanity and sharing it together is a wonderful thing. It is a great song this year too, written by John Foreman and others to highlight the importance of music in our education. Congratulations to Pender's Grove Senior Choir for a fantastic performance at Darebin's Music Fest, Schools concert; "The Jam". On Tuesday 15th September, six schools from the City of Darebin performed at the Preston Town Hall in a variety of bands and choirs. The Mayor opened the concert with a short speech and all the students enjoyed the performances having a big all-in dance to the last band. Pender's Senior Choir performed six songs as the second last group and were a great credit to the school. Though we only had thirteen performers, they sang a wide variety of songs with beautiful, strong, clear voices. The organiser and other teachers congratulated us on the great performance, commenting on the lovely voices and challenging songs and harmonies. There was a little more impromptu singing at the bus stop and on the bus on the way home for the public's pleasure! So, well done choir, we all look forward to more performances in term four. |

The deep vibration of drumbeats have filtered throughout the school each Monday this term. Nick Adams, from The Song Room, is our musician in residence at Pender's Grove in Terms 3 and 4. He has been developing a range of drumming skills to students from Prep to Year 6 and preparing them for a performance to be scheduled in Term 4. We are all looking forward to the rythms that will continue to carry us through the year and accompany our learning. |
