Welcome to the 3/4W Learning at Home Page
Dear Students,
Welcome 3/4W students to our Term 3 learning community. During your time at home it is important that we stay connected with your learning so please go to our '34W Daily Page' each morning for new tasks. This '34W Main Page' should be used for additional ideas once you have finished your daily tasks.
Below I have written some instructions for activities that you can do from home that are directly linked to the learning taking place in our class. While you are at home, try to embrace learning in different ways. You may like to do some cooking, gardening or even build something outside. Continue to be curious about the world around you.
The Department of Education has requested that we keep track of attendance while remote learning. Could you please email me each day to let me know that you have engaged with learning from home.
Take care and stay safe,
Wendy : )
Reading
Reading at home will look a lot like reading in the classroom. Each day you are expected to read independently for 30 minutes. During reading, you can record interesting vocabulary or questions you have. You need to track your reading by keeping a diary of your reading each day, including the pages read and your time spent reading. After three of these sessions, you are to complete a response that relates to the text you read. The responses will focus around your comprehension skills that we have been developing during Semester 1, such as predicting making-connections text-to text, text-to-self, text-to-world, questioning, visualising and summarising. This term we will continue to focus on building word vocabulary, synthesising, skimming and scanning. We will also continue to build on our skill of asking and answering literal and inferential questions.
Steps:
Select a book to read, have your workbook ready. Read for 30 minutes, logging interesting words or questions in your work book Record your reading when you have finished reading. Select a reading response to complete
Response Ideas:
Write a response or a summary of what you read or viewed.
